After the world was shocked by the verdict of the Casey Anthony trial, on July 12th, a child was reported missing in the Brooklyn neighborhood of Borough Park. Eight year-old Leiby Kletzky, was speculated to have suffered from autism. Kletzky lost his sense of direction and misjudged his route home from day camp. He was supposed to meet his mother a few blocks away. Store-front cameras caught on tape Kletzky following behind an adult male, whom police investigators later identified as Levi Aron. Cameras also showed Aron entering a dentist’s office, which was where investigators were able to find his address. Aron confessed to the police at his home where he also kept parts of the dismembered body of eight year-old Leiby Kleztky. The rest of Kletzky’s remains were said to have been found in a nearby dumpster.

In contrast, those officials who handled the Casey Anthony trial are still trying to figure out not just who killed, but what led to the death of Casey’s three-year-old daughter Caylee Anthony. The month-long wait before reporting her missing child, along with four different lies told to police, is what led most of the public to believe Casey was guilty of more than just lying. Casey is set to be released on the 17th of July, 2011. Her time served in jail from 2008 will count towards the four-year maximum sentence for lying to police. Her early release was said to be due to good behavior while incarcerated. After Kletzy’s death, Brooklyn Assemblyman Dov Hinkind told a local news station “This is not just about children in Borough Park. This is about children and what we need to do to protect our children.”

WELL AT 8 YEARS OLD I DONT BELIEVE THAT KIDS SHOULD BE GOING ANYWHERE BY THEMSELVES. IT DOESN’T MAKE WHAT HAPPENED RIGHT, BUT PARENTS HAVE TO BE MORE PROTECTIVE OF THEIR KIDS BECAUSE AT THAT AGE THEY ARE STILL VERY INNOCENT.
